This week’s workout theme is Jumping Into Summer!

Try out these three jumping moves and see if you can create a few more of your own!

Movement is always fun, but to build better control we need to keep our awareness on the quality of our movement. Can we move slow and fast? Can we talk at the same time so we know we’re taking deep breaths? Can we hold the positions with the body lined up strong and stable?

With our awareness ready, let’s go!

First, put the noodle down in front of you and jump over it. How far can you go?

If your child has a hard time jumping with both feet at the same time…

-Try a verbal cue to “bend” and “pop”

-Model swinging your arms to get more power

-Ask your child’s physical therapist to look at your child’s alignment and overall symmetry. They may have more access to movement one one side compared to the other. Balance it out and a-jumping they will go.

Next, jump sideways over the noodle!

To make it more difficult, jump quickly to each side.

To make it easier, try a chalk line first and progress to the noodle.

Finally, its time to jump rope! Using a noodle or a hula hoop can be a great way to introduce jump roping.

Repeat each jump 5 times and the whole sequence 3 times for some family fitness together!

Come back next week to try out our next Wednesday workout!

Have fun!
